About our Dojo

Our Tradition

Our Tradition

Our Tradition

We teach Isshin-Ryū Karate, a style founded by Tatsuo Shimabuku in 1956 in Okinawa, Japan. Isshin-Ryū, meaning “One Heart Way,” blends elements of Shorin-Ryū, Goju-Ryū, and Kobudō (traditional Okinawan weapons). Our training emphasizes practical techniques and core values like respect, humility, and perseverance, preserving the timeless principles of this martial art for modern practitioners.

Our Story

Our Tradition

Our Tradition

Founded in 2015, Bennati’s Martial Arts has been dedicated to providing high-quality martial arts training rooted in the art of Isshin-Ryū Karate. Led by Kyoshi Bennati, a 7th-degree black belt with over 30 years of experience, our dojo embodies a passion for teaching and excellence.

About our program

No Contract

We believe in the enduring nature of your love for the Martial Arts throughout your journey, and for that reason, we do not lock you into a contract.

Zero Testing Fees

We strongly uphold the principle that belts are earned, not paid for.  We also do not charge for earned belts or patches; they are included in the membership at no extra cost.

Professional Martial Arts Training

Our instructors, all lifelong Martial Arts practitioners, have dedicated their careers to passing on Isshinryu Karate. Free private lessons are offered at the instructor's discretion to students in need at no extra cost.

Black Belt Mentorship

We're on your team. Understanding life's struggles at any age, we recognize the importance of both the physical and mental benefits of Martial Arts. We are here to guide you through your Martial Arts journey.

Monthly Special Events

Monthly Special Events

We organize a major event almost every month, such as our Dojo Family Picnic, Halloween Party, and our annual Dojo Family Campout, among others!

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to us at bennatismartialarts@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We offer two free trial classes to all new students. Interested trial students can choose their preferred days and times, and Bennati's will schedule them accordingly. No payment is required, and there's no pressure to join—we simply want you to experience our classes before making a decision. All trial students need to fill out a necessary waiver and are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing during their trial. Upon enrollment, a uniform (gi) is provided.

We teach Isshin-Ryū Karate, a style founded by Tatsuo Shimabuku in 1956 in Okinawa, Japan. Isshin-ryū blends Shorin-ryū, Goju-ryū, and Kobudō (traditional weapons like bo, sai, and tonfa). Our training emphasizes practical strikes, blocks, and joint manipulations.

Students must commit to attending at least two classes per week. If you cannot meet this requirement, you will not progress or rank up in our program. Karate is a serious discipline that requires dedication and consistent effort. To support students with unusual schedules, we offer makeup classes and a special Flex program to ensure everyone has the opportunity to meet their training commitments and succeed.

The Tiny Tigers class is designed for ages 4-5, and we are open to evaluating children at age 3 1/2. It's important to note that evaluation doesn't guarantee enrollment. As a general guideline, if a child isn't potty trained yet, they may not be ready for structured karate classes.

You may schedule your first trial class effortlessly using our online scheduler in the "Classes" drop-down menu under "Schedule Your First Class." Alternatively, feel free to reach out to us by calling (530) 820 3232 or emailing us at bennatismartialarts@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

We are proud to offer one of the most comprehensive Karate Dojos and training gyms in Placer County and the Greater Sacramento Area. Our facility features two fully-equipped floors with sturdy olympic-grade mats and 6-foot mirrors, along with amenities like hanging bags, a concession stand, water bottle refill station, and complimentary WiFi. Additionally, we provide two well-appointed locker rooms with showers. We also have plenty of spectator seating, free-standing bags, as well as agility and strength training equipment.

We understand that life happens. If you are unable to attend a class, you're welcome to make it up. Make-up classes can be scheduled through our online scheduler under 'Student Resources' in the drop-down menu. It's recommended to make up classes promptly to stay on track.

Upon sign-up, we provide your first white uniform, or GI. During trial periods, new students can wear any comfortable gym clothing. As a token of appreciation for attending your first class, you will receive your white belt, or OBI, to wear immediately thereafter. Children earn their white belts by contributing at home and demonstrating good life skills.

Rank progression depends on multiple factors, including attendance, personal growth, and mastery of form. Advancement is determined by the instructor's thoughtful evaluation during testing.

We serve as your direct vendor for all high-quality, safety-approved sparring gear and accessories. Most items are readily in stock, and we can order custom or specialty items as needed from suppliers like Century, Shock Doctor, and Swift. Feel free to stop by the front desk anytime. As you or your student advance, earned patches and belts are included in tuition and will be timely and symbolically presented automatically.

Unless explicitly instructed by a Sensei a student must successfully complete their active program to graduate to the next age group.

We teach traditional martial arts with a strong focus on real-world self-defense. While Jiu-Jitsu emphasizes ground-based grappling and submissions, Karate empowers students to stay on their feet, strike effectively, and confidently escape dangerous situations. Every martial art has something unique to offer—if you're unsure which one is right for you, we’d love to help you explore your options! Take our Karate vs. Jiu-Jitsu Quiz

We are a vendor for all of the charter schools in our area, including Arete, Clarksville, Cottonwood, Feather River, South Sutter, Twin Ridges, Horizon, Harvest Ridge, Visions, American River, Forest, and Grass Valley. If your charter is not listed, please contact us to discuss the possibility of adding your charter to our list of affiliated schools.

With an initial start-up of $60—which includes your first uniform and a gear bag—our Standard Program is $169 per month and includes two classes per week. For a more flexible option, our Flex Program is $189 per month and allows unlimited weekly classes, with the freedom to attend any class time, even if it's waitlisted. Flex memberships are limited, so please ask about availability.

We also offer paid-in-full packages at discounted rates for 3, 6, and 12 months, available for both Standard and Flex programs. Families can take advantage of our $25 discount for each additional family member.

Call or text us for more information and current availability.

When students become sparring eligible, they will need to complete their sparring set. Down the line, upon advancing to weapons at Green Belt (ages 8 & up), students will need to purchase their own weapons (Bo and Sai). Apart from optional (but encouraged) Tournaments, our pricing is all-inclusive. Each of these items is available for purchase at our proshop located in the Dojo.

Each individual embarks on a unique Martial Arts journey. Consistency is key to ensuring a rewarding and enriching experience. In Martial Arts, there is no break; consistent attendance is crucial for preparedness in testing. Regular at-home practice enhances the synergy of body and mind memory. A lack of attendance and practice can result in a longer, sporadic, and often unmotivated journey.
